Planting Dahlias
What is the best way to plant show worthy dahlias? We discussed different approaches and practices at our last general meeting, and will now share what we actually did at the Trial Garden this year. All of the submitted tubers were planted earlier in trays and started in a greenhouse. John Kooiman grew them to about six inches tall. We did not till the soil this year. Trial Garden Planting Day Saturday, May 27, 2017 It is time to plant the Trial Garden with the 2017 entries. Planting will start at 9:00 a.m. Location: Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, MN 55318. Be sure to dress appropriately, bring water, gloves, tools, and sunscreen/bug spray. 2016 Trial Garden Planting
The Dahlia Trial Garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will be planted with tubers on May 21, 2016. (In case of rain, planting will be on May 28, 2016 instead). Volunteers are requested at 9:00 a.m. There will be 15 varieties planted. Members are encouraged to sign up for volunteer work at the garden during the summer.
